At the highest level of elite sport, winning margins are at their finest. That’s why everything we do at High Performance Sport NZ is designed to give athletes and coaches the edge. We work in partnership with National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) to make performances that microsecond faster or millimetre further, to put more New Zealanders on the podium.
To ensure repeatable success for New Zealand on the world stage, we partner with specific sports and campaigns. We focus on the performance pathways, wellbeing, engagement, and funding and investment for those sports.
We focus on developing a truly integrated end-to-end performance pathway designed to better identify and develop potential talent, better support our high performance athletes and coaches, and retain more talent in high performance sport following retirement from competition.
Because great coaching is critical to athlete performance and wellbeing, HPSNZ’s coach development initiatives purposefully sit alongside our athlete pathway.
Enriching performance environments that empower and support individuals to reach their potential and enhance their ability to thrive in their sporting and non-sporting lives.
Whatever support our high performance athletes and coaches need - it’s available through our regionally based Performance Pathways team and our national network of training facilities across the country. Our connected national network provides future, current and retiring high performance athletes and coaches with support around performance, development, and transition.
HPSNZ’s Funding and Investment framework is designed to maintain the targeted approach that has helped deliver ongoing international success for Kiwi athletes, while increasing support for the wellbeing of those in the system and investment in a wider range of sports to achieve results that inspire New Zealanders.
Prime Minister’s Scholarships support athletes, coaches, support team members and officials to gain educational or professional qualifications while continuing in sport.
An HPSNZ initiative designed to support the health, wellbeing and performance of female athletes. WHISPA brings together technical experts from a range of specialties to facilitate the education, research and best practice approaches to supporting women in sport.
